There is good news for 2008; this summer the Lamborghini inspired R8 sports car will be available in the USA! The long list of awards the R8 has acquired can display the extent of this vehicle’s worth. Being named Car of the Year by various car magazines begin to illustrate how capable this machine is.
Let’s start with the power it harnesses. The 4.2L V8 engine makes 420 horsepower and 317 lbs. ft. of torque at 4,500 rpm, and it drives a standard six-speed manual transmission; an optional sequential manual transmission is also available.
There is also an automatic mode and various methods of gearshifts available to the driver. Audi claims that the R8 is capable of acceleration of zero to 62 mph in 4.6 seconds, with a maximum speed of 185 mph; it is based off the prominent Lamborghini sports car after all. Quattro AWD and a more agile aluminum body also contribute to this cars exceptional performance.
The interior cabin can seat two and with the luxury that leather fabrics provide. The flat bottom steering wheel increases the roominess for the occupants; more specifically for the driver, who now has easier vehicle entrance and exit.
Of course, Audi added various technologies including an exceptional sound system, a Multi Media Interface system for various vehicle dynamics, a backlit instrument cluster in a convenient location and more!
The two occupants keep safe with dual-stage frontal airbags, side airbags and dual-threshold airbag supplemental restraints, complete with an occupant sensor; this avoids unnecessary airbag deployment if the driver is riding solo. The architecture of the R8 exterior was made to withstand the most unfortunate of circumstances by incorporating reinforced bumpers and other useful design aspects.
